The practitioner's training and experience. A Reiki Level 1 practitioner a few months into practice is going to charge differently to a Reiki Master who's spent 20 years building a full toolkit - you're paying for different depths of work.
What's actually included. "Reiki" can mean a straightforward hands-on energy session, or it can mean something layered into a much bigger container. The more that's woven in, the more the session tends to cost.
Where you are. Sydney and Melbourne prices sit higher than regional areas, same as everything else.
Average Reiki Costs in Australia Right Now
Standard, single-modality Reiki sessions in Australia generally sit somewhere between $70 and $150, depending on the city and the practitioner. A Reiki-only session, is usually 45 - 60 minutes.
When "Reiki" is used as shorthand for something much broader. You'll see prices climb well into the hundreds - because you're no longer paying for Reiki alone, you're paying for a practitioner working across with multiple modalities in a single session.
Online vs In-Person: Does It Change the Price?
Energy doesn't care about distance - I run my sessions on Zoom and the depth of the work doesn't change. What you're paying for is the practitioner's time, training, and presence.
Reading your energy, following what comes up, holding space for what happens in the session - that takes exactly the same skill either way.
Is Reiki Covered by Private Health Insurance in Australia?

Medicare doesn't cover Reiki - ever.
Private health insurance is murkier - back in 2019, the government excluded a list of natural therapies from earning private health rebates (naturopathy, homeopathy, and others).
Reiki wasn't on that exclusion list, which technically leaves the door open for some funds to offer a rebate under "extras" cover. In practice, very few actually do, and the ones that do usually cap it low. Worth a two-minute call to your fund to check.
Why My Sessions Aren't Priced Like a Standard Reiki Session
I stopped calling what I do "just Reiki" a long time ago.
Reiki was where I started. But 20+ years in, my energy healing sessions are delightfully more complex and a challenge for me to articulate. I am able to see across three layers simultaneously - the physical, the energetic, and the ancestral - because that's where I've seen real magic happen.
Sometimes the direction of a session is surprising as we get to the root of what needs addressing rather than just the symptoms that sit on top of them.
In any session, that might look like energy clearing, chakra work, Isis Ka, womb healing, or ancestral pattern work - but which of those show up depends entirely on what your body and energy are asking for that day.
My sessions are AU$297 for 60 minutes.
