The Glow Letters

"This isn't about looking young forever. It's about feeling at peace in your skin, knowing your worth, and having a grounded conviction that means you glow from the inside out through your life, no matter what phase you are in." – Cressida Zoe

Should You Match the Intensity Around You?

March 17, 20263 min read

And I think the honest answer is: most of us are not matching the intensity of this moment well.

We're either numbing out from it or getting swept up in it, which are two sides of the same coin.

The intensity of the world right now is real. Things are moving fast. The noise is relentless. And trying to "keep up" with it is a losing game.

Peace within, in that context, isn't about disconnecting from the world. It's about becoming a stable point inside the storm.

Here are a few things that actually work.

Reduce inputs - this doesn't mean putting your head in the sand

You can be informed without being constantly stimulated. Curate ruthlessly.

Choose one or two trusted sources for news. Set windows for checking your phone rather than living in a constant scroll.

Notice how you feel after consuming certain content, and let that be your guide.

Anchor in the body daily

The nervous system can't find peace through thinking alone.

Movement, breath, stillness, ritual.

This is my work too, and I still think I could do this more intentionally.

One way I love to anchor: cacao ritual or ceremony

Cacao isn't just a modern trend. It's a heart-opening plant medicine that's been used ceremonially for thousands of years. You don't need a full ceremony to feel its benefits. Even a simple, intentional cup at home can create a moment of grounded presence.

A simple practice to try:

Prepare your cacao slowly and with intention. Sit somewhere quiet. Hold the warm cup in both hands and take three slow breaths before you drink. As you sip, ask yourself: What do I need right now? What am I holding onto that i could just let go of? Let the energy of the cacao open your heart space and give pause between stimulus and response - that's where the peace lives.

Another anchor: essential oils

Certain oils work directly with the nervous system through the olfactory pathway, which means they can shift your state almost immediately. This is why I use Young Living oils daily, not just for ritual but as a practical tool for regulation.

A grounding blend to try:

Apply grounding oils like Cedarwood, Frankincense, or Sacred Sandalwood to the soles of your feet, your wrists, or the back of your neck. Inhale slowly and deeply. You can hold the bottle or a diffuser bead and use it as a focus point when your mind starts to race. Even 60 seconds of intentional breath with an anchoring oil can shift your nervous system from reactive to responsive.

If you're not yet using Young Living oils, please reach out to me so that I can help you choose your perfect order and welcome you into our beautiful wellness community to learn how to use them most powerfully, if you think they're just for aroma - you have a wonderful experience coming!

Let the world be loud without taking it on

There's a difference between being present to what's happening and making every shudder of it your personal burden to carry. You are allowed to witness without absorbing. You are allowed to care deeply without losing yourself in the quagmire.

Return to your own rhythm

Lunar cycles, rest, white space. When you're living in alignment with your own natural rhythm rather than the rhythm of the news cycle or social media, something grounds.

You stop reacting and start responding. Community helps with this too - being around others who are intentionally choosing a different pace is one of the most powerful things you can do.

The question I am sitting with is: are we mirroring the intensity around us?

I think reflection without absorption is an art. You can hold a mirror to the world without becoming what you see.

If this resonates and you're curious what it looks like to do this work with support, I'd love to connect.
