What Does a Holistic Healer Do?
The Difference Between Holistic Healing and Conventional Treatments
Conventional medicine has its place, it's especially good for emergency or acute issues.
Diagnosis can be helpful, although I'd argue that conventional values of assessment are only looking for extreme imbalance rather than looking for optimal levels for health.
Conventional medicine is amazing at keeping you alive if something goes seriously wrong.
I'm not anti doctor, I have a GP, and I'm grateful for the care that she gives. I have had a psychiatrist and a psychologist. There is nothing wrong with them, they are excellent practitioners. They work within their scope of practice. If you understand that then you are a step ahead.
Conventional treatments and assessments were not created to investigate why you're exhausted despite bloodwork that comes back "normal," why the same relationship patterns keep resurfacing no matter how much therapy you've done, or why your skin flares every single time your mother calls.
Conventional medicine and especially specialists treat the body as separate from the emotional and energetic systems running through it. Holistic healing starts from the opposite assumption, that those systems were never separate to begin with, that we are energy first and body afterwards.
I learned this the hard way. Twenty plus years ago I was deep in my own health crisis, doing everything conventional medicine told me to do, and still not getting better. I was told food wouldn't affect my bowel disease, and it was surprising the things that made a difference. I got BIG results just by removing the toxic chemical crap that I was cleaning with and living with inside my home - the ones I could see, and the ones I couldn't, the physical ones, and the energetic ones I didn't even know I was holding onto until I understood what to look for. The incredible benefits for me and my family are literally the actual reason I do this work now.
What a Session With Me Looks Like
We meet on Zoom.
I start by reading what's the most pressing for you right now: It might not be what you think it is. Your energy, what you say, what you don't say, how your body's responding while you talk about it. From there the session flows. Sometimes that's energy clearing. Sometimes it's ancestral pattern work. Sometimes we spend the whole hour on one sentence you said in the first five minutes, because that's where the real block needs to be uncovered.
It's intuitive rather than formulaic, which why I find it hard to put in a brochure, and exactly why it works.
The Physical, Energetic, and Ancestral Dimensions of Holistic Health
This is the framework I work from.
Physical. Your body, your skin, your home, your habits. The toxins draining your energy without you noticing, so many of my clients feel that they're just experiencing signs of getting older. When it's their body asking them to change things.
Energetic. The emotions, patterns, and rhythms hijacking your system from the inside. The reason you can do everything "right" and still feel stuck.
Ancestral. Your mother's fears. Your grandmother's limitations. Your great grandfathers legacy. The stories written into your soul print long before you had any say in the matter, the ones therapy alone can never quite "get rid of", because they were never yours to begin with.
Most approaches choose one layer and stay in that lane. Bodywork stays physical. Talk therapy stays in the mind. A lot of energy work stops at "energetic" and never reaches into the ancestral links underneath it. Real change, the kind that actually holds, happens when you work all three layers at once.
How to Find the Right Holistic Healer for You
Not every holistic healer is the right fit for every person, and I'd rather you find the right one than assume it has to be me. In fact I pride myself on my ability to refer out. I see that as a strength.
A few things to look out for: someone who explains what they're doing and why, rather than hiding behind mysticism. Someone upfront about if they're the right person for you. Most of us deep in this work have a large community of practitioners that we can refer out to.
Someone who has more than just a list of qualifications, but real life and experience behind them. And someone you feel safe with, that you don't feel like you're going to be judged by them.
If any of this is calling to you. If you're curious to understand what working across all three layers might look like for you specifically, book a connection call and we'll figure out together whether it's a fit.
